I believe that I am in a primary discourse, American wise because I was born in America and I am a US citizen. Because of that, I feel like i have a head start from those who aren't as familiar with the US culture. My primary discourse comes from my home and how I grew up. My secondary discourses comes from school, church, and just public places and events that I go to.
I wouldn't consider myself in the dominant discoures because i'm not rich, im not the top boss in the world and i'm not white, not saying that in a racial way but people who are in the dominant discoures of majority white. I also wouldn't consider myself that because I haven't reached that level in life in only 16 years old and that's such a young age to even have a voice or impact that big to society.I feel that dominant discourses should change in ways of letting people be heard and having more diversity. But, honestly I don't think that that would change, well at least in my life time.
I feel that Dominant discourses need to be more open minded and change their cultural beliefs or whatever you call it because it's just wrong how people judge others everyday just from their appearance or how they speak forgetting that everyone doesn't come from the same place. We all have different backgrounds and cultures...so why do that??
